5 ways to create the perfect collaboration point in an office

06-11-2018

A collaboration point in an office is a convenient way to have discussions without the need to book out a meeting room. By providing these areas, it will encourage employees to communicate face-to-face much more rather than using other forms of communication channels like e-mailing or phoning. Face-to-face communication helps to increase productivity and by being able to see someone’s body language and expressions, it builds trust and credibility.

The choice of furniture selected is vital in order to create the perfect collaboration point. It’s also important to consider aids such as TVs, charging points and surfaces like magnetic and writable boards, should individuals need to visualise information.

Here are 5 of the ways a collaboration point could be created in an open plan office environment;

Cave

This magnificent structure was designed by Polish designer, Dymitr Malcew, to create a safe place for business talks and focus the attention on the topics being discussed. The Cave is split up into different modules, allowing for multiple configurations and of course, has excellent acoustic properties. The fabric is available in a wide range of colours to enable the Cave to work in harmony with the decor in the office.

Feast tables and benches

The Feast range is durable, easy to clean and has impact-resistant edges, so it will still look as good in 5 years time, as it looks today. You can select from a metal or wooden frame as well as a range of different finishes and sizes.

We recently used Feast tables and benches at Techspace Luke Street.

High Spin Stools with a poseur table

The Spin Stool range is highly popular and there’s no wonder why. They are aesthetically pleasing, comfortable and can be made in a wide range of heights and finishes. One option could be to pair the high Spin Stool with a poseur table to stand out in an open plan office space – as per the photo below.

We recently used this combination of products at Accordance.

Treehouse booth

These mobile booths are versatile and fun, reflecting the shape of a child’s treehouse. The structure enables a sense of security which will allow users to be more expressive and honest when collaborating with others. The Treehouse range includes the spectacular Double Treehouse which has capacity for more people as well as integrated lighting, a TV, charging points and a table. The Treehouse is available with either a table (as per the photo below) or a pouffe in the centre.

We recently used the Treehouse at Techspace Luke Street and Tower Hamlets Homes.

VooVoo Box

The VooVoo Box has been described as a ‘private room’, making it ideal in an open plan office space. The walls of the Box help to keep users focused on the task in-hand and they can be upholstered in a wide range of fabrics.

We recently used the VooVoo Box at 3 City Place.
